Why is my report delayed? What causes a delay, and what can I do to help?

We understand how important it is to receive your background check results quickly—especially when you're waiting to start a new job. While many reports are completed within a few days, some may take longer due to factors outside of your or Cisive’s control. 

For example, delays often occur when verifying education or employment history from institutions or employers that respond slowly, or when court records are not available online and require in-person searches. 

International verifications, government holidays, or inconsistencies in the information provided (such as name variations or missing details) can also slow down the process.

The best way to help avoid delays is to double-check that all the information you submitted is accurate and complete. If we reach out to you for clarification or additional documentation, please respond promptly—that can make a big difference. 

While we cannot provide updates on report status until the check is complete, please be assured that our team is working diligently to finalize your report and deliver it to the requesting organization as quickly as possible.
